Still the pool side was nice enough and the price was almost alright. Not great for families but not impossible. Spent two nights there, but never will again. Thanks for the odd memories.
Although I commend the hotel for not having price gouged for the solar eclipse, I will have second thoughts of using this particular establishment when visiting Mammoth Caves in the future. My family will probably end up down the road in Cave City instead.
Room was surprisingly comfy for the looks of the hotel. Bed was nice but couldn't shake the fear it wasn't cleaned. There are very few options for staying in Cave City so I recommend staying in Bowling Green.
I would give a lower score but the highway view wasn't half bad. The other side of the hotel smells of piss and nacho BO and would be a perfect place for a pimp to conduct his long-term business. The view of the scrapheap is a real nice touch.
this hotel is not pet friendly. They charge a $20 non refundable deposit if you have dog. we stayed in room 232. when we went to bet we could not lock the door. Lucky for me i have a big Chow dog.
We were traveling to see Mammoth Caves and view the solar eclipse and spent three nights at this establishment. Clearly this Quality Inn was a former motel which was bought/upgraded. We were given the handicap room on the first floor. There was no odor in our room and the humidity was surprisingly low (as if they had run the AC when unoccupied). The bathroom was nice, although we would have liked to have a shower wand for bathing children since there was no tub. Also, the vanity was also slightly too tall for our son (5 years old) to reach the water; I'm not quite sure how a person in a wheelchair would manage. The pool was clean although it was slightly strong on the chlorine (better safe than sorry). Similarly the lobby area was nice, but too small during breakfasts; admittedly it was probably the busiest weekend of the year.
We used the bathroom as we went to bed and were horrified to find some dudes boxers on our bathroom floor. Not only was the bathroom not cleaned it appears no one even looked in there.
The hotel was nice, clean and recently remodeled but the windows were super thin and you can hear all the traffic from the highway. Other than that, the breakfast was decent and the staff were very pleasant.
The main problem/complaint revolves around the cleanliness of the room. Specifically, there were lots of dead bugs near the windows and in the bathrooms. Could have easily argued this away, for example, if the room hadn't been used recently and bugs snuck in under the door/through the AC. However, when leaving we found an open pack of Ritz crackers under our bed so clearly the floor hadn't been thoroughly vacuumed/inspected. Also, we reserved a non-smoking room but our comforter had cigarette burns on it; fortunately it didn't smell otherwise we would have request a new blanket. Simply put, this was not up to the standards which I have come to expect from staying at other Choice Hotels.
This should be called a motel not a hotel. Hotels have interior corridors where you enter the room. Motels are entered from the parking lot like this one. Very unsafe.
